Cutting the Jacket

I have cut the jacket on the final fabric, as i fell confident enough after alterating the pattern. i have bought and dyed enough so if i had any last minute problem i would have plenty of fabric to fix what ever.

Final Fabrics

This are my two final fabrics, this is cotton, and is exactly the same fabric but i have dyed one to antique grey, this will be for the jacket and the beig will be for the trousers.

New Final Collection

I have finnaly visually changed my final collection, i decided to change the colours and fabric from the begginig as i wanted a more industrial look instead of such a rustic feeling, i have cut down my colour palette, to antique grey, beig, black and white.

The final outfit has been change equally, and this is how it will look in the end.

Diffusion Collection

This is my diffusion collection, i have decided to design 4 outfits, 1 coat,2 trousers, 1 jacket, 3 tops, 1 skirt and 1 dress.
And added a perfume to the brand, as i have found out perfumes are a really good way of advertising as well as increasing sales.

I have follow my theme which is repetition to make the collection, the obvious thing in the collection are pleats.

It looks quite similar to my main collection, as Preen has very simple designs, but the fabrics will be cheaper using linen and cotton mainly, as well as the making. meaning the process will be different, according to the prices.

The Starting price will be £40 for a top and an exit price £250 for a dress, this is 1/4 the prices of the original Preen collection.

It will drop in the same group as Preen consumers, but with a different life style, as not every woman in her 20's can afford a £900 dress, but the mayority can afford £200.

The shape of the perfume's bottle has been inspired by the torso shape in a human, it represents shoulders waist and hips.

The perfume will be sold to every age, and this will be available in 2 sizes, 50ml and 100ml. the price for each bottle will be £20 and £30.

Changing the pattern

It took me a whole day to change the pattern, but I now feel secure to cut it in the final fabric, as I think the alterations are very little.

Toile Presentation

I have presented my first toile on Friday 23rd and it went quite well, the majority of the alterations, I already expected them, as when I started to put the outfit together I noticed.

Jacket

-add 1 cm to sleeve head, there wasn’t enough space and the sleeve was tight.

-add 1cm to sleeve top arm hole, this to give the jacket a more boyfriend look, so the armhole drops more from the shoulder instead of being on the shoulder line.

-Pleats need to be top stitched to keep them in place or either put a panel on the back of them.

- Back Collar was too narrow, for that reason a 1cm extra is being added.

-Back looks loose, making a wave appear, for that reason the back seams are adjusted, only on the waist level.

-looking at the toile I have decided to make the sleeves narrower all over, as my model is skinny and I don’t want the jacket to look big on her. I want a boyfriend style but not a child trying mum’s clothes look.

Trousers

-Waist band is missing 2 cm long, so need to add it to be able to cover the trousers waist

-Add a button panel on the front of trousers this will be 3cm wide, because of this the 3cm extra will be added to the waistband.

-the hem will be narrower and will be cropped by 12 cm.

-the same as the jacket, the pleats will be top stitched.

Model

I was thinking, someone skinny and tall would go really good with my chosen design and then is when i thought of Tiffanny.

She will be my model.

Diffusion Collection Research

A diffusion collection is a cheaper collection produced by a designer, either for its own label or for high street retailers.
This is to gain more customers to purchased from the label, as the products in a diffusion line are affordable for almost everyone.

Preen has introduced a range called "PREEN line", this offers cheaper clothing, 1/4 of PREEN prices, a dress from the designers would cost over £800, the blue dress on the picture has a cost of just over £200.

Vivienne Westwood with Anglomania. The prices are still high, but seem extremely cheap comparing to the designer's original prices.

Z by Zandra Rhodes
More casual and younger collection, is based mainly on jersey clothing.

Armani Exchange is one of the biggest collection for armani, its been running since 1991 and is a more younger and affordale version of the brand.

D&G by Dolce and Gabanna, is a much younger and cheaper collection, it offers a range of clothing as well as fashion accessories. This collection is for men and women.

Moschino

John Galliano will be introducing his first Diffusion line from late 2010.

Other designer collaborate with High Street Retailers, offering a collection much cheaper than normal. One of the main retailers to collaborate with designers is H&M, the company has collaborated with designers such as:

Roberto Cavalli

Commes des Garcons

Collection

This is my final collection, following Preen style, i have chosen to go for a funky manly kind of look.
the collection is based in 2 trousers, 1 leggings, 1 coat, 2 blazers, 2 dresses and 1 all in one top-trousers.
the theme repetition stands out in some parts of the clothing such as the pleats on the first trousers, and mainly pleats in all the other garments.

My chosen garment is the second one, man wide shoulder blazer and loose trousers.

i was really sure about the fabrics i would be using, in my collection, but after talking to Alexis on Friday, i realized that my moodboard gives a Urban look, and the fabrics make my theme look very countryside.
so ill be hunting for other kind of fabrics over the easter holidays.

As well as that i am changing the first design, instead of making a waist blazer ill be designing a blouse, to give more variation to the collection.

New Colour and Fabric Board

After choosing the fabrics ill be using in my collection , i have cut down my colour board to a total of 6 colours.
This kind of fabrics gives my theme a rough look. but keeps the repetition on the texture.

More and More Fabric Research

On thursday 18th i visited a small factory, where i had a picked on the whole procedures, as well a good picked on their fabrics.
they had 5 bin bags full of fabric, so i took as much as i wanted, some for my personal used, but mainly for my design project, fabrics which would go with my theme as well as my colour palette.

this are the ones i came out with, if i choose one of them, ill have to go hunting for a similar one all over london.
